Meet Our Dedicated Team

Attorney Kevin C. Harris, Founding Member

Kevin C. Harris is one of two founding members of the Law Offices of Harris & Holmes, PLLC in Ripley, West Virginia along with his law partner, Eric J. Holmes. Kevin was born and raised in Ripley, West Virginia and graduated from Ripley High School. Kevin came from a blue-collar background with both of his parents teaching him the value of hard work and being honest and fair with people. Kevin went on to attend West Virginia University obtaining a B.S. degree in English Secondary Education graduating with honors. Upon graduation, Kevin was accepted and attended the West Virginia College of Law earning his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in 2000.

Upon graduation, and successfully passing the bar exam, Kevin was admitted to practice law by the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia along with both the Federal Courts of the Southern and Northern Districts of West Virginia. Kevin began his legal career practicing insurance defense law but soon realized his passion was in helping the working-class families of West Virginia. So he and his law partner, Eric J. Holmes, opened their practice in Ripley on April 1, 2002, April Fool’s Day, which they always joke was very fitting.

Kevin became the city attorney for the City of Ripley in November of 2007 and continues to serve the city in that role today. He and his law partner Eric also represent the Jackson County Commission, Roane County Commission, and most recently the Calhoun County Commission.

Kevin loves spending time on his farms in Ohio and Iowa doing various projects when his work schedule allows. Kevin is an avid outdoorsman greatly enjoys pursuing mature whitetail bucks.  Kevin was blessed to marry his high school sweetheart, Shelley, in August 1997, two days before starting law school. She is truly the love of his life and the best part of him. Kevin is the proud father of Jaxon, who just completed his first year of law school at the Appalachian School of Law, and Avery, who will be a senior at Ohio University in the fall majoring in communications and marketing.  When not doing things for his family or at his farms, there is nothing Kevin enjoys more than taking care of his German Shorthair Pointers, Ronan and Rya.
